From Olympic athletes to yoga teachers, rugby players to nutritionists – here at Mindful Chef, we’re proud to support our community of ambassadors through feel-good food and like-minded values so they can go on to do great things!
This includes our ambassadors Ben Gotting and Dave Thomas from The Foundry – who share the same values of community, inclusivity, teamwork and commitment to whole-body health.
The Foundry is a results-driven fitness community offering classes and semi-private personal training, giving everyone the opportunity to be trained and treated like a professional athlete within a team environment.
The Foundry’s call to action “Where The Strong Belong” is an attitude – members and guests are strong in mind, strong in body, and strong in commitment. So we caught up with the boys to find out how Mindful Chef is helping them on their mission…
1. What is your Mindful Motto or your words to live by?
“I’m not a spiritual person but I’ve always taken great comfort in the philosophical maxim that you can only control the things within your control, and you have to learn to accept the things you can’t.”
2. What is your proudest achievement?
“It’s cheesy…but it’s my kids, without a doubt. It was a long old struggle for me and my wife to welcome our daughter Willow…and then her brother Ash just popped up 2 years later. They just give all the effort and ‘achievements’ some purpose.”
3. What is your favourite Mindful Chef meal?
“We have mindful chef meals three nights a week and it’s too hard to choose. We generally stick to the 15-minute recipes for convenience and time. Our Christmas plans were scuppered this year due to the pandemic meaning we were stuck at home with no food. It could have been a disaster but I managed to get a last-minute Mindful Chef Christmas dinner ordered which meant we had an absolute feast with minimal effort and it was delicious! It really made a pretty rubbish day very special.”
4. How does Mindful Chef help make healthy eating easy for you?
“I’m not sure any parents reading this will believe me but my 3-year-old daughter absolutely loves “Mindfool Chefff” and getting stuck in with preparation. Previously we were eating a lot of pasta and sausages to keep her happy so this has vastly improved all our eating habits. Whenever we’re tired I’m also glad for a frozen Mindful Chef meal we can just throw in the oven. We actually do this every Friday evening for ‘movie night’ and call it a ‘takeaway’. “
